I am passionate about delivering creative, energetic, sound and practical solutions to business owners to help achieve objectives, focus energy and grow the bottom line. Who needs a business coach?

It can be lonely running a business – Would it help to have someone at the other end of the ‘phone
• who knows and understands you and your business?
• who has an impartial ear who can act as a bounce for ideas and issues?
• who can challenge you to see yourself as others see do and to ask ‘is that what you really meant?”

Self-awareness is crucial to leadership and can be heightened through coaching; ditto self-knowledge. When these are missing in a leader, you can then often see discord and conflict among the SMT.

My experience includes:

For the last eight years, I have run my own business, Armstrong Beech Marketing. Prior to that, I worked across sectors as varied as education and telephony. All of these roles combined sales, marketing and leadership roles and, as such, I’ve always strived to produce sensible, workable solutions instead of theoretical nonsense!
Responsibility for the sales and marketing, including strategy and budget, for what was then one of the largest groups of schools teaching English as a foreign language (from 500 students year-round up to a seasonal 1400). Member of the SMT and worked closely with the school academic principals. Appointed and managed many of the overseas agents and personally responsible for over 120 and worked with group’s own offices in Tokyo and Zurich. Passion for the job and common sense to support safe travelling for 3-4 weeks at a time in South America, Near East up to Syria, half of Europe and Montreal – all before mobiles and laptops!
Leading the enterprise arm of an independent boarding school set in 1200 acres to develop a successful commercial business and additional income stream. Reporting to the Chair of the Governors, Headmaster and Bursar, created the marketing strategy & subsequent business development at all times balancing the interests of stakeholders.

Worked in direct sales B2C whilst the children were young where she received fantastic L&M training from George Raynault and was introduced to belief systems, mindset, coaching and EQ. George writes a brilliant fortnightly ‘Mental Doodle’ which can be found here.
Created and implemented a marketing strategy and many of the processes for an independent mobile telecoms business based in Cambridge and established a successful SW sales office, working B2B and including winning the mobile telephony contract for Viridor Waste Management.
Worked with one of the high street bank’s marketing team and local business managers to project manage some 60 seminars/year, with each seminar requiring 200 people booked

Family and what makes me tick

I’m married with two daughters – Rebecca a senior staff nurse for the North Bristol Trust, having obtained her degree in adult nursing at UWE (University of West of England), and Beatrice a professional cellist, now based in Cardiff, having undertaken her first degree at the RWCMD (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) before completing her MA in cello performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Debbie’s husband, Bernard, recently retired from 38 years as a boarding school director of music and is now an international music examiner travelling regularly to Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Malaysia – so role reversal with the travel Bernard’s bio can be read here.
I speak good French, some German and Spanish and a little understanding of Italian. I served as Patrons’ Secretary of West Wiltshire Young Musicians for nine years, in which both of my children played throughout their school years.
I chaired the local Wiltshire/Bath branch for the Institute of Directors for 3.5 years and more recently hosted a women’s business group in Bath for several years.
